After a hard day at work off trundled our team to the Go Kart Track in Eastleigh. Our team was made up of Sue, Tracey, Justin and Jackie - with the addition of two husbands to add some extra needed speed!

The challenge was simple - the team that completes the most laps over an hour and a half are declared the winners, so with the smell of burning rubber lingering in the air we struggled into our overalls and each got a turn for a practice lap.

After sizing up the competition we worked out our strategy, we’d split into Team A, the girls and Team B, the boys. We would all go out and do 10 minutes then look out for the change of driver board and come into the pits ready for the next driver. Now, we should have been concerned when Sue could only wear her helmet if she didn’t wear her glasses, however, this didn’t seem to faze us until after the 6th consecutive lap where she’d totally missed the change of driver board and we had to start physically jumping up and down and waving any items to hand to try to get her attention! Add in a few spins, a couple of crashes and a Go Kart with a dodgy throttle and things were not looking good for Team RIS!

So unfortunately we missed out on the podium places however we did have a fun evening. We’ve also learnt never get into a car with Sue again unless she is wearing her glasses!!
